Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are a beloved snack, appetizer, and party food that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world. However, the traditional method of cooking chicken wings (deep-frying) is not the healthiest option, as it can add a significant amount of fat and calories to your meal. Fortunately, air fryers offer a healthier alternative for cooking chicken wings that is both delicious and lower in calories. In this blog post, we’ll explore why air fryer chicken wings are a healthier option compared to traditional chicken wings.

  1. Lower in Fat and Calories: Air fryer chicken wings are significantly lower in fat and calories compared to deep-fried chicken wings. This is because air fryers use hot air to cook food, rather than oil. When food is cooked in oil, it absorbs the oil and increases its fat and calorie content. With air fryers, the hot air circulates around the food, cooking it evenly and giving it a crispy exterior without adding any oil. As a result, air fryer chicken wings contain up to 80% less fat and calories compared to deep-fried chicken wings.
  2. Better for Weight Management: If you’re trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, air fryer chicken wings are a great choice. Since they are lower in calories and fat, they are a healthier option for weight management compared to traditional chicken wings.
  3. Easy to Cook: Cooking chicken wings in an air fryer is quick, easy, and convenient. Simply place the chicken wings in the air fryer basket, set the temperature and cook time, and enjoy crispy and delicious chicken wings in minutes. With an air fryer, there’s no need to heat up oil, wait for it to reach the right temperature, or deal with the mess of deep-frying.
  4. Versatile Cooking: Air fryers are versatile cooking appliances that can be used to cook a wide variety of foods, including chicken wings, vegetables, and more. With an air fryer, you can cook your favorite foods in a healthier way, without sacrificing taste or texture.

In conclusion, air fryer chicken wings are a healthier and lower calorie alternative to traditional chicken wings. With their lower fat and calorie content and easy preparation, air fryer chicken wings are a great choice for anyone who wants to enjoy a delicious snack or meal without sacrificing their health.

What are the calories?

Chicken wings are one of those foods that are hard to count. You have to weigh them before cooking, weigh them after cooking, weigh the bones after eating them and subtract that from the cooked weight. It’s just a lot of work.

Good news – We’ve done this work for you. For average sized chicken wings with the sauce below you are looking at around 80-100 calories per wing. 1 pound is around 16 chicken wings.

We also suggest using Bolthouse farms blue cheese or ranch. Another option that is harder to find is Marie’s light blue cheese. We were able to find it everywhere in New York but unfortunately have never been able to find it in Texas or Florida.

Bolthouse farms is a yogurt based sauce meaning it’s significantly lower calorie than standard blue cheese or ranch.
